Personanteckningar

Kirstin Björnsdotter, Queen of Sweden

Daughter of Bjørn Haraldsen Ironside, prince of Denmark and Katarina Ingesdotter

Kristina Björnsdotter , born in the 1120s , died about 1170 , was a Swedish queen 1156–1160, who was married to King Erik the Holy .

Katarina was the daughter of Inge the elder and Queen Helena. During the 1150s, Kristina led the harassment of the monks in Varnhem, which resulted in the abbot Henrik and the monks traveling to Denmark, where they were warmly welcomed by the Danish king. The Abbot was free to choose a suitable royal estate and the choice fell on Whitesköl in Jutland. Twelve monks and with them many play brothers moved to Denmark and with them they had lime, books, clothes and livestock. Eight years later, Erik and Kristina had overcome their aversion to the Cistercian, who now received an invitation to re-establish themselves in Varnhem. Some of them also returned to Varnhem 1158 to seriously start the monastery building. But now they had the patronage of Erik Jedvardsson and his wife Kristina.
